Aha...

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

I was asked on a message board what the biggest "Aha" I've had since starting maintenance. I didn't have to think about it any time at all. My biggest surprise is that I can live at the weight I've wanted to be since I was a teen and be no hungrier than I was 50 or even 80 pounds heavier. The heavier I was the more food cravings I suffered; the healthier I eat the fewer cravings harrass me.

It's good to know that a time will come when the cravings will reduce some. I'm having difficulty controlling cravings at this heavy weight..I also use people such as yourself as a "mentor" to know that if others can lose as much weigt as you did, then I can too. Keep up with the great blogs! emoticon

As I've said before, Marsha, you are amazing! I agree that the more sugar you eat, the more sugar you crave. The best way to cut cravings is to cut out sugar and sweeteners!

Awesome! I have a similar revelation. I've also realized good calories and healthy food tastes better! All the best and embrace it all!

This is a huge insight: and so true. I'll be reminding myself of it over and over again.

I'm just as hungry when I'm 80 pounds overweight as when I'm at my goal weight.

Truth is, with my food addiction, no amount of food would ever be "enough food".

That is awesome Marsha, and oh so true. What people don't realize is the more you eat of treats the more you crave because high carbs does bring on that feel good feeling, its an addiction like any other drug, plain and simple. I discovered once I gave up the treats and didn't allow them in my apartment, I know longer craved them. The food I ate was plenty satisfying, as long as it was well balanced with enough protein, carbs and fat. Spark's ratios really do work if followed.
Keep on enjoying that less is more feeling!

I so agree with your Aha! maintenance is still a challenge to me but I know I am not going to go back to the way things were when I weighed like 80 pounds more.
It feels so good knowing that we can stay at the weight we want.
We can do it Marsha, yes we can!
