Tough Start to Christmas

Saturday, December 24, 2011

Well, my son missed the narrow window to get himself home for Christmas. The roads are open, but icy. He told his father last night that he plans on coming today. I just hope he travels slowly and safely home. We have at least two inches of snow here and it is falling again. The roads are icy for most of the 4 1/2 hours home. I would rather he wait until Monday, but because he missed being home for Thanksgiving I don't know that I can count on him doing that. Then I have to go back to work on Tuesday. Then my daughter called last night and said she has not received her package that I sent on the 14th. It was supposed to get there by the 20th. So she may not have anything for Christmas at all on her first Christmas away from us. Not shaping up to be a good Christmas right now.
I will go start my pies here in just a few minutes and try to keep my mind off of everything. I am making lasagna for dinner tonight, my son's favorite. I have notified the postal service. We will go play Santa tonight for some friends from church and the kids at the facility that I work at. Should be a lot of fun if the roads co-operate. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and hope that it is filled with wonderful memories for each of you.

I know from reading your next blog that the gifts were delivered on time but if they had not been would that have been such a catastrophe? Is the Christmas spirit limited to only Dec. 25th? That you thought of her to remember her was a special gift in itself. -- Lou

This will be the first Christmas that our son is now home. His job has first dibs on his time. We weren't able to celebrate his birthday with him either for the first time. It's hard!
    Have a blessed Christmas.
