Marathon training: Take 6

Monday, December 19, 2011

I am at it again, for the 6th time! LOL!

I trained so hard for the Space Coast marathon and although I PRed I didn't get anywhere near the time goals that I know I can run.

My next marathon is February 4th, the Tallahassee Marathon!

Now that I took a little time to recover I am back at the training and this time I am armed with a coach!

Week 1 called for a Tuesday 4 miler consisting of 1 mile warm up, 2 miles of pick ups with recovery, 1 mile warm down.
My actual run was 1 mile warm up, 2 miles of pick ups for 1 minute each with recovery for 15-30 seconds in between and 1 mile warm down. Total of 4 miles in 44:43 with average of 11:11 pace

Thursday called for 4 miles. 1 mile warm up, 2 miles tempo (faster than 5k pace) and 1 mile warm down.
My actual run was 1 mile warm up at 11:30 pace, 2 miles tempo at 10:35 pace and 1 mile warm down at 12mm pace. I haven't run a 5k in more than a year so I wasn't really sure what my 5k pace would be. I was hoping to have picked up where I left off with a 10:03 pace but that wasn't the case. Looks like it's something I need to work at! One of my goals this year is to get a 27 minute 5k.

My long run called for 7 miles at a 12mm pace.
My actual run was 7 miles at 11:19 pace.
I know this was meant to be slower but it was cool out and my legs felt great! I just kept a pace that felt comfortable.

My schedule this week looks pretty much the same but with a long run of 15 miles.

I am still doing my Advocare challenge and it's going well. I am down 2 pounds as of this morning. I know my Thyroid issues are going to make it hard to lose weight but I am giving it my all!
I am off of work for the next two weeks and I am really looking forward getting into the gym. I really need to build my strength and tone up.

On another note. I just started Christmas shopping! I know, I know, there are only 6 days until Christmas. I never wait this long but I just didn't know what to buy people! I did finally get my Christmas cards done and most of them mailed off this morning. The pictures turned out really cute!!

I am really looking forward to this new year!! I am already on track and I LOVE IT!!!

I hope you all are having a fantastic Monday!!

Good luck, Sueann! Hopefully the trainer will be the little extra push to get you to your goal. Let me know how you like that marathon... I am always looking to find marathons within driving distance.

LOL on the Xmas shopping. I only buy for my niece and I totally forgot this year, so I guess she is not getting a gift from me. Her mom and dad and other aunts and uncles spoil her anyway. That kid does not want for anything!

Enjoy the 2 weeks off. I am jealous!

You just started Christmas shopping! WOW, good luck girl! I know you run in overdrive most all of the time so 6 days should give you plenty of time!

Good luck with your marathon training, just stay focused! Wondering what 'pickups' are...going to google it now. :)

    Happy End of the Year!
