This isn't much of a blog, but here is what I've been thinking about a lot, between working, riding, and getting our family ready for the holidays:

These are the official times that the sun rises and sets over Washington D.C. for the next couple of weeks. Notice that starting tomorrow, the sun sets a little later each day. By the end of the month, we'll have gained back 7 minutes of daylight at the end of the day. I love it: we're getting back to longer days.

P.S. While I was riding home on my bike last Friday, after dark, twice I had cyclists slow down as they passed me, and comment on how 'bright' I was. One of them said I was like a beacon that could be seen from hundreds of yards away. They were referring to the gear I wear to make me more visible in the dark: headlight, rear light (x 2), jacket, ankle bands, spokelits, and reflective tape. I told them that my family would be happy to hear that.

Way to ride safely. The more they can see you, the less likely you'll be to having an accident.

I can't wait until it is light late enough to go out for a walk/run after work. I feel safe enough for parts of the trip but I just can't run as well when I can't see the ground and everything around me.

It is interesting indeed. I knew the days would soon be getting longer as right around my birthday (the 22nd) is the shortest day of the year.

Something to do with our time while, waiting, riding and sitting! What an observation! Great you're getting the riding exercise in as well. Some people work better based on sunrise and setting! Thanx for sharing! emoticon emoticon

You sound like someone with SAD, Janet! But I'm glad to hear that you're still biking, undisturbed by the season.
