Cookie Exchange Mishap

Thursday, December 15, 2011

This is the 4th year I've been in the same cookie exchange. It seems like every year something happens to make it memorable. This year my 15 year old black lab helped.
I made hershey kisses cookies on Friday night and put them on the dining room table for the kisses to harden - 12 to a plate.
In the morning I went into the dining room and found the empty plates. Misty ate 3 plates of 12 cookies. She couldn't reach any more. After I finished scolding her I set out to make some more cookies. Finished them, put them in another unreachable area and then decorated the plates to exchange.
We had a great time at the exchange, lots of fun, sharing and good healthy food.
I came home with my exchange cookies and put them in the dining room until I got the cookie platter to put them out. Yep - she got my exchange cookies!!
She now has to go on the Spark diet with me - I can't pick her up to weigh her - she is way too heavy now. lol!

Guess I just didn't learn! Next year I'll make doggie cookies.

Oh, I love these dog stories! :)

My friend had 4 cats. One Thanksgiving she put her turkey onto her screened-in porch to defrost. My friend's mom didn't know and the cats were making her crazy so she opened the window from the kitchen to the porch and sent them all out. When my friend went to get the turkey, she found 4 cats...and lots of turkey bones...but no turkey for dinner! She didn't appreciate my hysterical laughter!

A cookie exchange - I've never heard of that, but whata great idea! Our dog (English cocker spaniel) learnt how to get ONTO our kitchen cupboards to help herself to midnight snacks, so now we've had to block our kitchen off with a childproof gate!

They are certainly determined, aren't they?!

My brother's dog will get into the fridge, pantry , on counters, and lower cupboards if there are sweets there.

I made cakes for a banquet a couple of week ago. I took great pains to keep them out of the way of kids, dogs, everything. I put about 16 hrs from start to finish on them. When they were finally done, an hour before my hubby was to deliver them, we set them of the dining room table for safe keeping. My son walking into the room a few minutes later and said, "boo, what are you doing?" in a sing song voice that I thought was to scare me into thinking the dog was in the cake. "nice try!" I said and laughed. But the joke was on me when he says "no really mom!" The dog had eaten one corner of one of the cakes!!! emoticon
