My Computer's Back, But I'm Doing Better Than It Is

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Computer: My laptop is back home. When it went to the shop it would not turn on at all. Although it still has a quirky little problem, I can work around it. Based on what the repair man said, sounds like a costly repair would not be worth it.

I really, really missed my SparkFriends when I had limited access. So glad to be back!!

Weight: I weighed 127.2 at home this morning. Smile. I'm hoping to start the new year with a home weight of 128 (orless) and to lose 1 pound in January and 1 in February declaring a home weight of 126, with range 124-129. Then I plan to totally embrace maintenance.

Eating: I'm really working on eliminating unplanned eating. Have a ways to go. Want my indulgences to be with my family and for celebrations, not for late night snacking. Must say, though, that my snacking has been pretty healthy and moderate portions. So, I will say I'm still in the "progress, not perfection" stage.

Exercise: Think I'm doing about as well as I can with my health challenges. Ran 4.5 miles Saturday. Now - believe it or not - I have a mild cough again and my lower back is bothering me. Have an appointment regarding my back tomorrow. Walked 40 minutes today.

Sleep: I'm doing better. I have a streak of four 8 hour nights for the first time in a long time. Seven hours or more I consider success.

Water: No problem -- getting plenty.

Weight Watchers: I now have free eTools and will track there for a while to see how it compares. I was awarded my third Key to Lifetime on Saturday. You only have to have 10 good months' weigh ins to get it and I had 12 for 2011. My third anniversary of attaining my Weight Watchers' goal will be in March 2012. I am so glad WW is now recognizing people for achieving maintenance goals.

Again, I am so glad to be back full force on SparkPeople!! There is no way I could maintain this 80+ pound weight loss on my own. Thank you, SparkGuy! Thanks, WW! and most of all, Thank you, SparkFriends!!

Congratulations on your award! Its does show you are very successful and shouldn't take the mild up and downs in weight so seriously. That you are staying in your range is just plain AWESOME!!
So sorry about the back -glad you are getting that checked out, and hopefully, they will come up with strengthening exercises for you to focus on keeping it healthy, or at least go over with you what could be causing it and try to correct or avoid anything that may be triggering it..Improper lifting gets a lot of people and maybe lifting squiggly granchildren may be causing you some trials.
That is worrisome about the cough making an appearance again. Maybe that needs to be checked out as well..Mom was surprised when her Dr. told she probably has mild asthma with the cough she kept having trouble with. She has never had such trouble in her entire life!! Why it should make an appearance in her twilight years is a mystery!
Keep up the great work Marsha!! I so envy you that precious sleep..

The computer is a tool I thank God for every single day. And it connects me to this lifeline of health support. I am thankful for you and your example. I too must lose 80 pounds . . . probably 90. Your specifics help me dream and envision, seeing in my mind's eye when I will say I maintained at goal weight for a year, or years in your case!

You are absolutely awesome, Marsha! No way your computer could ever keep up to you!!

It's great that you're hitting your maintenance and exercise goals . . . here's hoping that your back stops bothering you permanently and soon! Could it be related to lifting the grandgirls?? And: are you using strengthy training for back muscles? Any specific weight routine for the back issues, and particularly for potential lifting injuries?
