Day Three: Walking through the snow

Saturday, December 10, 2011

Today's walk gave me a few lessons.
First, I realized how much I missed going for walks. It's nice to pass through different sceneries and environments. Secondly, when you go for longer walks (mine was 90 minutes today), make sure your footwear and feet agree. I haven't worn these particular boots for walks before - the end result was that before I reached the half-way mark I had obtained some blisters and I guess they burst at that point and it was somewhat painful to carry on walking. Don't do this. Wear shoes you've worn in before going for long walks.

Walking almost 7 km in the snow in a very hilly environment was pretty nice. I got out just as it was starting to get dark (at around 3 pm). Even if that sounds extreme, it's really nothing I'm from a town further north and around this time of year there is daylight between 11 am and a little past 12 pm (noon) no sun light until February. I guess this is the right time to explain that I live in Trondheim, Norway to put things into a little perspective.

I thought this dude was somewhat cute.

I'm not a fan of flashy multi-coloured Christmas lights, so this was right up my alley, I found it to be utterly charming.

What little you could see of the city through the snow.

Overall a very nice walk if you forget about your blisters and focus on "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen (and singing along)

You're so cute all bundled up in your pictures! I am not a fan of the cold, so I applaud your winter walks emoticon
