The Journey Begins: First steps

Every year, after Christmas, people start to panic about their weight (there's also something to be said about that period just before summer). I'm not really panicking, it's not just after Christmas, after all.

All I want for Christmas is better health.
If I could stay healthy, it would be easier to maintain my fitness.
Really I am just annoyed. It's been an up and down year. Weight wise and healthwise. Currently I am dealing with strep throat and scarlet fever of all things. Just before that I had walking pneumonia (mycoplasma pneumonia) and a month before that I had a pretty vicious sinus infection. I'm not really happy. Because there's been a lot of starts and stops this year. This makes me motivated to attempt to become consistent next year.

So let's scratch whatever's been done, or not done so far -- and keep the lessons learned -- and start anew.

I'm going to continue going for walks, hopefully I'll get 30 minutes every day, speed and length of the walk not being the main issue. Eventually, I'll find my way back to the gym. I hope to be able to both bench press and squat my current weight.
I can't believe I am over 200 lbs. That's not going to last long.

Do what you can do! I have battled a couple of major injuries in the past few years. Now, finally, I am healed. On my way! So are you. It takes the first step.
