Thankful for DGD

Saturday, November 26, 2011

My goal is to write in my Gratitude Journal for 100 days.
Day 2. My 16-yr. old Granddaughter's home is in Germany. She is here in the U.S. for this school year as part two of an exchange with our niece's teenage daughter who spent last year in Germany. She is living with our niece and family which is about 1/2 mile from where we live on a farm. She stays with us on some weekends, and is going to be here this weekend. It is so great getting to know her, as we have visited often, but only a few weeks at a time, and now we actually can spend time together. I thank my DS and DIL who I am sure miss her greatly, but want her to have this U.S. experience and get to know her U.S. family better.

How wonderful Anne. Family is just the most wonderful thing. You must miss your son and family too.
My sister in law visited Australia for the first time for six weeks. Her husband had Parkinson's for many years so it was the first time that we had a lot of time together. She was here for six weeks and it was just delightful. Neither of us have sisters so to get to know each other was just wonderful, so I can well understand your joy in getting to know your granddaughter.
