A new way

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

I've had a couple of obstacles in my weight loss efforts. The first is diabetes type2 which I need to get under control. I had my meds increased a few months ago and my weight went up by 7 pounds in a couple of weeks, so I got them reduced again with my Doctor's approval and have now got my weight back to where I started.

The second obstacle was a surgical procedure I had in August which limits what I can do now. I cannot go cycling as I was doing previously, so I went walking and decided that I would try running. I didn't think running would ever fit into my fitness regime but I've started. I'm doing the training for the 5K, it's the rookie 8-week one and I've done 2 interval traing sessions so far.

The other thing I've decided to do, inspired by Spark Guy, is a streak of 10 minutes every day on my rowing machine. Today is my 5th session.

I've not been very good at the sharing side of things such as these blogs or message boards, but I do recognise they are an important part of the process, so I'm going to start posting.

Sounds like the fitness part of your plan is going well, especially with your recovery. And I've also found that regular blogging, no matter on what topic, keeps me 'in the network' for support and encouragement, and gives me a dose of self-help as well. The third point of a healthy triangle - IMHO - is tracking nutrition. Those are the three basics that've helped me the most.
