First time not cooking Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Having a hard time not cooking! LOL! We are alone this year...no company for dinner, our daughters are not going to be here. Thought about going out...but that doesn't give us leftovers - so we ordered one of those complete Thanksgiving dinners from a restaurant. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy beans, coleslaw...all ready to go.

But I did shop to get my own ingredients to make stuffing, and homemade cranberry relish, made cornbread , and baked an apple, walnut, cranberry pie, and sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts to roast....etc.

I think I have defeated the purpose of the Thanksgiving dinner to go! LOL!

Hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving! emoticon

    Thank you friends...
Hope you have a good Thanksgiving!

HoundLover, I love cooking...but I like your idea of everyone getting together bringing a dish, sounds great! This year it's just my husband and I..and our granddog. But this dinner to go is a lot less food than if we were cooking a whole turkey and all the fixins...and we love leftovers, this will be just a day or twos worth.

Thanks everyone for replying. Count your Blessings!

I was thinking about that today. I told my husband and sister, someday we will probably be going to the community thangsgiving at the high school cause the turkey will be too heavy for us to lift. Right now I'm not ready for it. I had visions of myself still preparing a small turkey and dressing for us. I guess old habits do die hard. Well hopefully that is way in the future.

Not cooking here either. Was at my son's in Illinois on Saturday and we had Thanksgiving but he cooked it all. I just relaxed. Going to my husband's sons tomorrow. I am going to put a ham in the crock pot. But the pot will do the cooking. lol emoticon

The title of your blog intrigued me. I don't like to spend much time cooking so we have a Thanksgiving dinner with friends where everyone brings a dish to share. All I have to do is make some green veggies. Maybe you can invite someone in your neighborhood who lives by themselves. I'd be worried about sitting there with all the food with nobody to eat but me. emoticon

Old habits die hard! LOL! Nevertheless, enjoy your Thanksgiving and may your turkey be the only one "stuffed" tomorrow :)
