Level Up! *Bonus Edition*

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Normally I don't pay much attention to SparkPoints - I collect them, I like getting enough to spin the Bonus Wheel, but beyond that, I don't pay much attention

I did notice the last time I leveled up, that it seemed to show a huge number of points needed to get to the next level, but I didn't really realize what that meant until today

Level 12 trophy is pretty and inspiring - I don't know why

I clicked on the link under the trophy that said "see other levels" and I understand now, why Level 12 seems like such a big deal

When you start out with SparkPeople, you seem to fly through the trophies, and that feels pretty good, then I think you kind of forget about that - or you just notice when the picture changes - I think initially, they use those trophies to make you feel like you are making progress - I looked at what it takes to move from level to level:

1 to 2 - 100 points
2 to 3 - 150 points
3 to 4 - 250 points
4 to 5 - 500 points
5 to 6 - 1500 points
6 to 7 - 1500 points
7 to 8 - 1500 points
8 to 9 - 1500 points
9 to 10 - 1500 points
10 to 11 - 1500 points
11 to 12 - 5000 points
12 to 13 - 5000 points
13 to 14 - 5000 points
14 to 15 - 5000 points
15 to 16 - 10000 points
16 to 17 - 10000 points
17 to 18 - 10000 points
18 to 19 - 20000 points
19 to 20 - 20000 points

So yeah, the jump from Level 11 to 12 takes awhile, but it didn't seem like as long as that first 10000 points, because the longer I've been here, the more active I've become

I remember being afraid to make my first board post - in fact, I just looked up the data on that (SparkPeople is great for helping you trace back) - I joined in early March, but didn't make my first board post until May 12th, I hit 100 board posts on June 12th - my current board post number? 987

*Bonus Edition*

I'm just going to share a few things about this upcoming holiday long weekend with you - a few things I'm going to try to do

emoticonI'm going to track Thanksgiving Day today - starting with our evening big meal and working backward - with the goal of staying in range

emoticonI am making a new veggie dish with green beans - when my husband saw the green beans, he said "those are my least favorite", I said, "they aren't for you" emoticon

emoticonI will eat pie, but no crust - I don't really like the crust, so why eat it?

emoticonI am not going to save up calories today and tomorrow and then consume them all tomorrow evening - I'm going to eat like I do, every day - within reasonable ranges - THETURTLEBEAR has a great blog entry about this if you want to be inspired www.sparkpeople.com/mypa

emoticonI'm using white sweet potatoes this year instead of white potatoes and regular sweet potatoes - THEY-ARE-AMAZING!

emoticonI'm going to remember water is my friend

emoticonIf we go on a short trip this weekend as it appears we might, I'm going to eat and drink smart

emoticonI'm going to enjoy the time with my family, and not tie them to food experiences and showing my gratefulness through mass consumption (of food, of goods, of media/entertainment)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I admit it. I'm a points ho. I'd like to say I have more fitness minutes than points but early on I completely buried myself by touring the site (it's 'uge!) and racking up points while doing piddly inconsistent amounts of exercise.

White sweet potatoes are now on my radar. Never heard of them. We have an abundance of "specialty" groceries in our neighborhood (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, New Seasons, Chuck's Produce) and I've never seen them at any. I'm alookin now though.

Enjoy your holiday! Looks like you've got it under control.

GREAT POST! I still haven't found any white sweet potatoes, but I'm on the lookout for them, I may need to go to a fancier store around here to find 'em! :D I think that sounds like a great plan for tomorrow. I'm going to thanksgiving parties tomorrow AND Friday...so I'm going to have to work tomorrow and Friday the same, jsut spend a lot of time enjoying family and friends, and not overeat for the big meals, and not STARVE myself beforehand, because that WILL get me into trouble!

I'm one of those people who really pushes to get Sparkpoints, because Sparkpoints are how I learned how to use this site!! It was so confusing in the beginning, and I never found the getting started guide (yeah, I'm an idiot), so I used Sparkpoints to teach me. :D I think I'm just about to hit level 16, and switch to 10,000 points between levels. :O
