The Best Laid Plans of Mice and (Wo)Men...

Thursday, November 17, 2011

I was supposed to have a spinning class this morning at 9:15am. So, I was up bright and early, ate my breakfast, dressed and off to the gym at 8:30am. I walked in and there was a HUGE line waiting to sign up for the class; signup opens at 8:45am. Only 30 seats and already 30 in line. I walked to the end (hoping against hope) and was accosted quite rudely by a young woman in line. The interaction was uncalled for and ridiculous and not worthy of going into detail about. However, it did make me decide to leave the gym (I had on the wrong shoes to do anything else anyway) and take this day as a "mental health" day.

OK...since I still had this day off from work, I decided to make some chicken noodle soup with the leftover roasted chicken I had in the fridge. I spent some time happily chopping and stirring and making wonderful smells. Then, I sat down with a nice bowl of soup to catch up on some TV shows. I also realized I could go back to the gym and catch a spinning class at 5pm, so my day was looking brighter again! Then, my phone rang emoticon

A co-worker who is undergoing post surgical chemo & radiation for uterine cancer was calling to ask me to work her 4-8pm shift because she was not feeling well. emoticon
So, of course, I told her I would be glad to!

No spinning class again; it was obviously not meant to be! So, I have made this my official "day of rest" from working out! Tomorrow is another day....

Linda, I have found cooking to be a great way to deal with stress and frustration. Once I have done cooking I feel better and hubby has a great healthy meal.

Wow, I am so impressed with you: rising above the rudeness with which you were treated, and not hesitating to help out your co-worker who's in treatment. You have a terrific attitude!
