PASTA, YOU ARE MY ENEMY!

Well, I am very slowly buy surely going down. It might only be 1/4 pd a week. Sometimes even none, but, going down.

I count my carbs only. Try to stay under 50 g, max is 100 g. Like I say, it's working, slowly, but, it works.

Today (Monday) I am starting low carb induction. I decided I should speed things up a bit.

I haven't had pasta in months (and I haven't had white pasta in years? I only eat whole wheat.) and my brother in law gave me a bag when he was moving last week. I meant to take it to the store and put in the food bank box, but, of course, I didn't.

So, last night when I came home from riding, I was cold and hungry and had that bag of pasta sitting there begging to be my comfort food. And I cooked it. Rotini with broccoli, mushrooms, onions, sundried tomatoes, cream cheese and greek yogurt and spices. It was sooooo good. Had some baked chicken with it. Didn't go crazy on the pasta part of dinner, but, a good serving.

Well, I got on the scale this morning and I had gained 5 POUNDS!!!!!! emoticon. 5 POUNDS!!! Holy cow!!!

Now except for that pasta, everything else I ate all day was food I allow myself and I didn't eat much, cuz I was outside all day..............

So, obviously pasta is my enemy!!!!! What a shock! I mean I could see a pound, even two. Was more hoping I would just stay the same though. But to gain 5 pounds. And I have been so happy with my slow, but, still downward moving scale.

Well, I certainly learned something there, didn't I? Never again will pasta touch these lips. At least not until I have lost all the weight I want to.

Well, that's it for today. Been faithful to induction so far today. Hopefully it won't take me all week to lose those pounds again.

    NoOodles is my solution when I feel I must have a noodle, pasta dish.
    I even limit them a bit though, but help me get past that noodle moment. They have zero everything. There is a trick to having them taste good though. Rinse, rinse and rinse again. Heat up in a skillet to remove some of the moisture. I cut them in half before doing this. Then add to my sauce. Awesome in Asian foods too. I get them from Amazon.

    I tend to agree with you, although it is not a full five pounds of fat, it is still serious enough to take note of. I have the same problem and only through journaling was I able to narrow it down to carbs. The brown, the white, the good, bad, and ugly.

    Not kidding, I ate 1/4 c. brown rice to find a four pound gain the next day. All other foods were the same and it took an additional 3-4 weeks to lose that additional "weight".

    It is very frusterating and some people are just more sensitive to gluten, sugars, and carbs in general.

    Now you have another key to win the race.

    Definitely the carbs/insulin causing the bloat. Those crazy hormones! Just like the monthly hormones it can take 5-7 days for your body to give up the water again.

    Fortunately, if you're still mostly on plan you'll still be quietly burning off fat through this time frame, so once the water's gone again you'll probably see a nice little real-weight loss as well.

    5 lbs in water weight is possible as well as a gluten intolerance to the pasta will make you swell up.
    Trust me I know.
    Best thing to do is just as you say. Don't eat the pasta! Get your carbs in fruits and root veggies, not in grains. But you already know that!!

    well, freggiequeen (love the name),

    i say, "when you hear hoofbeats think horses, not zebras." (unless in africa emoticon )....so, when the only thing i ate or drank differently is the pasta, i am blaming the pasta. it may not be a solid 5 pd of fat, it certainly may be waterweight, or too much sodium (how much sodium is in pasta?), but, the trigger is definitely the pasta.
    and it certainly can't hurt anyone to keep pasta out of their diet. especially white pasta. i am generally a bit of a freak about not eating overprocessed foods. white breads, pasta, rice, etc, do not normally come in this house. and right now, their brown brothers (the whole grain family) are not allowed either.

    Well, I think it's good to shake things up every once in a while.
    You'll be fine, just give yourself 5-7 days my friend.

    There's no way the pasta made you "gain" 5 pounds! That would mean you had an excess of like 17,500 calories since the last time you weighed, which I'm sure you didn't. It was probably water weight from the sodium. Are you drinking enough water?

    I know what you mean! I can't really pasta any more. It just isn't worth it.
