Can you just lead by example with the healthier eating? That will take the "nagging" feel out of it.
Just don't buy the snacks you really like (hopefully you like different junky things, so you won't want his favorites). And if you go out to eat, just choose the very best option (and skip things like soda/sweetened drinks and rich desserts/appetizers).
