Thank you 17 Day Diet and 17 Day Diet Team

Monday, November 14, 2011

On a day if March, 2011, I decided that enough was enough and it was time to get this tired old, fat self healthy again.
I had watched an episolde of the Doctors and there was this young doctor on there talking about his new diet. The 17 Day Diet.
I thought to myself, "this is just another one of those diets", but continued to watch it for a few weeks until the challenge between
The Doctor's show and Dr. Phil was over. I saw the transformations of those people on that diet, and thought OMG, could I do this????
I wanted to read the book so badly, but when I went on line to check it out, it said that it was only available ON-LINE!!! So that was that.
I don't have a credit card, I couldn't order the I decided to give up on it and maybe try to go back to Weight Watcher's. That always worked for me before...but I don't have a car, so getting to the meetings is a little difficult. The meetings are when I am either working or have a meeting of my own to go to....isn't going to work for me. What to do, what to do, what to do??? So I sat down and ate a bag of potato chips. At this point, I have no idea what my weight was...I just knew that I huffed and puffed going to and from work. I also have COPD, so having
extra weight on me isn't a good thing.
Food comforts me when I am lonely. Food is there for me when I need a friend. Food is my go to thing when I am upset, angry or sad.
Food is my everything. No one is going to take that away from me. And my diet coke....OMG, I need 4 750ml bottles of that stuff a day, at least. I NEED MY FOOD!!!!!!!! I NEED MY DIET COKE!!!!!!!!!! They are all I have when my kids are too busy for me. When I don't have
my best friend to talk to. When I am just down and out and lonely....they are there.

So one day, I got to work a little bit early and was walking through the store, looking for something to eat...hello!! lol. When I walked by
the book section of the store...THERE IT WAS!!!!!!!! The 17 Day Diet Book!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes, so I picked it up, walked to the
back of the store where the Post Office is, put it on the back shelf and punched in to start work. Luckily for me, it was a slow day. I
started thumbing through that book between customers. Every page I turned, I said to myself...I CAN DO THIS!!!!! THIS IS A DOABLE
DIET!!!!!!!. I decided right there and then, to buy that book. I decided right there and then, that on the weekend, I was going to start this
diet. So I bought it. I didn't just buy one copy, I bought 2 copies. I gave one to my oldest daughter...she needed this diet too. She is 30 years old and is where I was about 3 years ago when I was at my highest weight. Breaks my heart to see her like that. So I bought her the
book for Mother's Day...sure it was 2 months away, but I gave it to her early so she could do this with me.

We took pics of ourself on the first day of the diet (April 2/2011) and then after each cycle and we could see a difference...Not only with
the weight, but inches...OMG, I was losing INCHES!!!! I was feeling so on fire for this diet by the end of cycle 3, that I couldn't wait to start
cycle 1 all over again.
By this time, I should say, I had found the 17 Day Diet Team on SparkPeople. This team was amazing. It kept me on Fire!!! They were so
supportive and one day, they asked me to be a co-leader of the team. OMG....I cried like a baby. Ever since, I have been a co-leader. I love the job, I love the team, I love the diet ....STILL!!!!!!

This diet works, but you have to work at it to keep it working. No it isn't a FAD diet. It is a totally new way of life Diet. It is a lifetime PLAN.
A healthy way of eating for the rest of your life.

We have had a couple of people come into our group, who have tried so very hard to sabbatoge it. The group sticks together.
We are all in the same boat. NONE of us are professionals at this. We are just people trying to lose weight and trying our darndest to
love and support others that are doing the same.
I don't think any one of us has ever said in any of our posts that WE the leaders, know what is best for the rest of the team.
We don't profess to know everything. We have read the book, and we have been working our butts off to get results. We only give advice
on what we know and if we don't know it, we give people a website to go to so they can find the answer.

I love this diet. I am proof it works. I could never in my life stick to something for 6 months and lose 46 lbs and feel as excited about it as
I do, if I didn't love it.
It is a healthy diet. One you can continue to follow for the rest of your life.

OK, have I said I LOVE THIS DIET!!!!!! Because it is the truth.
I love my 17 Day Diet Team and Co-Leaders. I am also beginning to love me again!!!

Thank you 17 Day Diet!!!! Thank you Dr. Mike Moreno for coming up with it. I started this diet at 222.6, today Nov 14/11, I weigh works.

What an amazing transformation! I also have the book but it has collected more dust than anything. Your results have definitely given me the nudge to pull it back out and give it a second look.

What a great blog post! I had to laugh about your not knowing what to do so you ate a bag of chips! How many of us have done that?
Yes, this diet works and as you say is doable. I like how it gradually returns us to a proper way of eating. There is nothing fad about this. The lower calories in cycle 1 help get the weight off a little quicker, as an incentive, to show yourself that you are capable of losing weight.
Thanks for being a great co-leader!
