Together we can do it

Last night I attended a newly organizing Weight Watchers100 lbs. plus meeting. It's an extra meeting just for those who have lost 100 lbs. and those who need to. I attended a similarly focused meeting a few years ago, but then it was disbanded when the leader moved up in the organization and was no longer able to facilitate the group. We hoped to stay together privately, but that didn't happen. After that, two of our severely obese members passed away, and none of the past members except myself and my close friend and prayer partner, showed up last night.
The stories of hundreds of lost pounds were quite remarkable. I was surprised and encouraged by how many of the WW leaders and members had lost better than 100 lbs.
I was very energized by the people in attendance, and my friend, who has almost 300 pounds to lose, was totally overwhelmed and had a bit of a breakdown. Everyone was so supportive and caring for one another. I felt so encouraged and hopeful when I left the meeting, and had a new resolve to just do it!!
I feel very blessed and am especially grateful that I also have Spark, and the wonderful friends I have made online. So many of you are my true "sisters" and even a few "brothers" in this battle that we fight and will have to continue to fight for the rest of our lives. We need each other and every bit of encouragement we can give one another.
The battle is great, but I have to say, God is greater. He gives me who and what I need when I need it. Yesterday I was given a wonderful gift, and today I need to share it with others. You can do it, and I can do it, and we can do it even better when we do it together! God help us.
