Even though it has only been a few days since I started to eat better and exercise, I couldn't resist the urge to see if I have lost any weight at all, so I snuck a little peak at the scale. UGH! Only down 1 pound. I couldn't believe it. I felt so upset that I started questioning myself. Why am I going through this? It hurts. My fiance is supportive but he still eats terrible. It's hard to watch him drink a big glass of soda and eat that delicious fried chicken and cheesy rice. It makes me feel angry inside. I went to bed last night feeling mad and pathetic, which of course led to crazy dreams.

When I woke up this morning, I decided I'm not going to let that 1 pound weight loss bother me. After all, I haven't gained any weight. A pound is better than nothing at all. Then, I got the idea to see what a pound of fat even looks like. It seems like such a small number, but I wondered what it looks like inside of my body. So, I looked it up. WOW, a pound is a lot larger than I thought. Now, I don't feel so bad.

If you are interested in seeing what a pound of fat looks like, check out this video. I'm going to put the link in my Sig for those weeks when I only lose 1 pound, so I have a reminder what I've actually accomplished.

When I saw this post it made me think of this poem I saw years ago-- so fitting..

    Just a pound

Hello, do you know me? If you don't you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm Only One Pound, just a pound. Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds or fifteen pounds, but never only one, so I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself ever so slyly so that you never seem to notice it, that is until I've grown to ten, twenty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it's fun being Only One Pound of fat, left to do as I please. So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying "Oh, I only lost one pound." ( as if that were such a terrible thing!) For you see, if you do this you'll encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm not worth losing. And I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you. Happy Days!! After all, I'm Only One Pound of fat!!!

My dear friend, losing one pound is great! Please throw out that thought that one pound isn't enough. When you think of the reverse, it means something.

There are so many things that involve our weight loss. I'd be grateful if I lost 1 pound! I hope you will realized how blessed you are!

You hang in there. One step at a time. One day at a time. One pound at a time. You can do it just don't quit.
