Weight loss success = lessons learned

This weekend I realized how much my weight loss success is affecting the rest of my life. In order to be successful at weight loss I have had to learn to be more assertive, with myself and other. I am a stronger person now both physically and mentally. I am not afraid of what people think of me anymore and I will speak my mind more often.
This weekend I rescued a mama dog and her 1 surviving puppy. She is pomeranian that had her puppies under my neighbor's porch/deck last Sunday. He has been staying with his sister and only comes to feed the dogs once a day...if they are lucky. Those two little dogs, male and female, have been in his backyard for the past year and a half since he moved in. They are never let in whether the weather is 110 degrees or -10 degrees. Long story shortened, she had 5 puppies under the deck in the dirt. My husband pulled up part of the deck to get them out. 1 was already dead and the rest were dirty, covered with fleas and not very healthy. The neighbor allowed me to get her into a crate in his garage and then left. He didn't return until the next evening when 3 more of the puppies had died. It took me until Saturday, but I finally convinced him to let me have the mama and pup to take care of them and find a home. I am taking her to the pomeranian rescue org tomorrow evening. I got her fleas treated this weekend so she will feel better and the puppy is now fat and happy. She is an adorable little dog that only wants someone to love her. Now she will have a home where someone will love her and stop breeding her. This was her 3rd litter of puppies and she will not be 2 yrs old until February. I'm still working on trying to get him to give up the male dog too. I really feel that I wouldn't have been so tenacious without the lessons I have learned through my weight loss journey.
