Job Availability

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Got home from a rather busy day at around 7:30p.m. and had a message that a potential employer had called this morning. It almost made me laugh out loud.

I have filled out several applications in recent days, weeks, and months. This was a call regarding one of the most recent applications submitted. It is a position in a retail store. Of course, in filling out the application I responded to numerous questions regarding hours of availability. Of the 168 hours available in any given week, I granted potential employers 149 hours of availability. The 19 hours I stated I was UNAVAILABLE for work were Midnight-7pm on Sundays, so...the manager calls during those hours... Was the manager expecting to find me available?!? As I said, it made me want to LOL. But, more importantly, I thanked God for the potential for employment.

I did immediately call the manager, who, as it happens, was not available. Here's hoping that I am stocking shelves or running a register by mid week!!!

Gonna get some sleep now so I can go see the manager tomorrow!

Congrats on your tenacity. I know you will find a job soon with that great attitude. I saw that Cato Clothing Store in the Eustis Village Shopping Center (next to Bealls) is hiring too.

Perhaps they called at that time because they felt like leaving a message on a machine instead of talking to a real person? Guilty, myself, of that sometimes, especially when crunched for time. Isn't that why we text sometimes too these days? LOL

    May your prayers be answered!

Maybe the manager was calling you during your time of unavailability because he thought on the lines of, "I'll be able to catch her at home because she doesn't want to work at this time." But then again, maybe he only saw the potential hardworker that he needed and didn't bother to read the "fine print". I know I've done that. Makes you feel like an idiot when you figure it out, but you are desperate for a hard working person and you just go for it with an attitude of, "If I can get them, I'll iron out any problems later. This one looks like what I really want!"

I hope that's the case and you get the job. I'll be praying for you.

Happy Halloween! Good Luck in the job search! emoticon

Praying For you!! You know, if an employee goofed it around, they'd be toast. If the manager goofs, well you know.......

Blessings to you. Let us know how it turns out!
