Fitness Plans and Hopes

The DailySpark has a good blog today about starting over to get in shape. The writer just delivered her third child. My five week cold definitely does not equate to even one pregnancy, but I feel a kindred spirit in trying to get motivated to get it back. Her first goal is consistency, and I think that is good for me, too. I'm not going to push speed or distance right now, but just make sure I do my scheduled workouts.
I changed my fitness program to 5 half-hour cardio sessions this week (instead of the 6 full hour sessions before illness) plus three strength training sessions. I had been doing just 2 strength sessions weekly as my emphasis was on running, but I feel like I need to work now to get some strength back.
Today I did 35 minutes on the treadmill, and I observed that I did just over 2 miles. I planned on doing 30 minutes but the cool down felt so good, I just kept going slowly for five extra minutes. It was beautiful outside and I would have walked there, but Gwen was napping and I needed to be reasonably close by. Actually I did take both girls in the double stroller for a three quarter mile walk that I didn't even put in my fitness tracker, come to think of it. Sunday I did a good strength training at the gym on machines. Today I did a workout from SparkPeople primarily with my exercise ball. Gwen "helped" me when I did my plank, by adding just a little extra weight!
I won't say I'm brimming with motivation, but I think I can stoke the fire enough to get back to where I was and, I hope, beyond.
