Quick Pre Doctor Update

Monday, October 24, 2011

I will finally get to see a doctor tomorrow. I guess I should reword that, I could have seen "a" doctor in the past week or two. There are several urgent care offices near my home and most likely a few near my work. I do not currently have a primary care doctor - I have not liked the last few I tried - and it gets a bit expensive trying them out. But I really wanted to see "this" doctor. I have met her several times in social settings and I really like her. She is an acupuncture and pain specialist and works with some complementary care providers as well. I am hoping that she can refer me to a good primary care physician.

All that said, when I finally realized that my hip wasn't improving, I called her office to get an appointment. This was on a Wednesday and she was leaving for a week's vacation on Saturday and was double booked for the remainder of the week. So my appointment is tomorrow. I thought that I would be completely healed by now, but wanted to keep the appointment so that I could get in and meet the group - and get the referral.

But "luckily" I am still in moderate pain (so she will get to see what's going on rather than guess at what was going on) But continued pain means that there is something more than a pulled muscle going on. I'm not sure what - some days I have almost no pain. But then I will get a sharp stab and I can barely walk. I have absolutely no pain while in spin class, but on Sunday I tried a road ride and had to drop out and go back.

I hope to be back tomorrow with wonderful news about how simple my fix will be .....
