“He hath made everything beautiful in his time…”
Ecclesiastes 3:11

One of my husband’s best friends had a daughter graduating from high school recently, which happened also to be our 18th wedding anniversary. I remember when her mother was expecting her…news shared just as we became engaged.
Our first, our beautiful daughter, “moved up” from middle school to high school last spring, on the 32nd anniversary of the day her father and I first met. I told her it was evidence from the Universe that she was destined for greatness.
I do not believe in coincidence. I believe that God’s plan, more elegant and vast that we could conceive, is occasionally revealed to us as connections we are able to see, if our eyes are open.
I imagine that the connections we make in our lives parallel those of the Master’s Plan, simplified that we might see. I find that in time, I am able to see things differently, because I bring more understanding, perspective from recent experiences, the time to allow things to be revealed. Somehow, discovering a new connection is like receiving a gift.
What connections do you see, what connections have you made? Are there seemingly random and disconnected things in your life that suddenly belong? Isn’t is lovely to know that to everything there is a time, a season, even for understanding? Is there something in your life for which it is about time?
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (KJV)
1To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
I’m blessed. When I’m feeling like I’m not blessed, I’m going to try to take time to see the connections, because so many exist. Sometimes, the things that connect today will fit together in another way tomorrow. Have you ever seen something old in a new way?It may not be the new thing that’s the blessing, but rather the new way to see what’s always been there. Like the people you love. Like the way they fit into your life. Like the opportunity that’s simply waiting for you to take it. Like being kind. Like being happy. Like knowing, giving, and receiving love.
I’m going for a run, and I’m going to empty my head and try to see something new. There’s so much to be seen, and so much to be appreciated, all in its time. And with so much out there, I am reminded again of all my blessings. Further evidence that God is Good.
