For me, a lifestyle change is more than eating better and exercising more. Sure, incorporating the Y into my weekly routine is part of the change. And so is taking more care in planning my meals and making conscious food choices in my home and out of it. But…I wonder how healthy it is to spend the rest of my free time online, whether on SparkPeople or Facebook or somewhere else. Sure, it’s great that these places are there and that I can spend time on them, but I always claim to have other hobbies, such as reading, knitting, quilting, etc. I think it’s time to incorporate more of my interests into my lifestyle, the way I did back before the internet. I think I’ll be more well-rounded and interesting – and happier.
Part of changing my lifestyle is making plans and following through. I have been a list maker since way back. I make lists and then lose them. Or, if I don’t lose the lists, I don’t follow through. My new laptop operates on Windows 7 and has a Sticky Notes feature. I love it! I can write sticky notes to myself, which attach themselves to the desktop until I delete them. No more lost notes! My new goal is to create a doable to-do list for each day and then follow through. Some things will be works in progress, and I’ll have only to work on part of the project; other things are one-shot items and things I should be doing every day (such as washing the dishes).
