Shin splints and Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.

I did too much too fast trying to prepare myself for the race for the cure and gave myself shin splints. So I am taking a step back till I heal. Walking has never been my strong suit because I have bad ankles. I plan to do so much better next year. So I really need to work at getting in shape with out causing myself further injury.
I went yesterday to the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure to do the one mile fun walk. I knew I would not be able to do the 5k. I ended up being pushed around in the wheel chair most of the time. I walked about 1 mile before using the wheel chair and then about another mile just before noon. but was in the wheel chair for the celebration walk. It was an overall a very pleasant and inspiring day. So very many survivors it was awesome meeting women who have come through this experience. I meet one lady that was a 40 yr survivor! another that was 30 yr survivor and one that was 26 yr survivor. There was a young lady I saw that must have still been a teenager yet she was a 2yr survivor like me. There were even a couple of gentlemen survivors. Cancer does not discriminate. It effects the young, old, male, female but there is always hope. They are consistently improving the treatments and coming closer and closer to finding a cure.
