It just doesn't happen to me every day. Maybe to some people it would not be a big deal, but I'm excited. I just got off the phone with my mom. I ordered her a copy of the book, Peace Corps at 50: Even the Smallest Crab Has Teeth. When I ordered it I had no guarantee that my story was included. It was nearly 3 years ago that I signed a contract giving permission to use my story. It is in there! Mom read it and called it "delightful". I would not use the word delightful, but then she is my mom.
I'm suppose to get at least one free copy of the book, but mine hasn't come yet. I paid for Amazon to send the one to mom. Now I can't wait to see it in print.
Think I'll call the lifewriting instructor from the class I took several years ago once I have the book in hand. Maybe she'll invite me to come to a current class and read my story. That would be fun. My SparkFriend Vikki (WILD4STARS is her screen name, I'm thinking) is probably still in the class.
If you ever have the chance to take a class from a certified Lifewriting Instructor, I would highly recommend it. If you are more of a do-it-yourself person, the book Turning Memories Into Memoir is excellent. Should you be curious about "my" book (I get no $ if you order one), check out the link below.
Wishing all my SparkFriends a memorable day -- in a good way, of course!!
