I walked my son's little dog this morning . We only went for a mile because he is strong for a little dog and was pulling me every which way the whole time! I think I want to get one of those cute little long hair dogs, I think they're spaniels or something? I don't know anything about dogs, but my son's dog, Helix, is always just so darn happy every time he sees me, he makes me laugh, and it would be great companionship!
Any suggestions, spark friends? What's a good calm breed, that is very small, with long hair? Not one of those yappers that bark constantly, but one that is calm and cuddly?

We love our dog, but she hardly fits your description emoticon She is a black lab and she is definitely spoiled. I cannot imagine the past 11 years without her. I hope you find one that you fall in love with and that falls in love with you.

Snuz I think you need to take a trip to the pound and see all the babies looking for homes. I am sure there will be one there that will take to you and you will KNOW when the right one is calling your name. I think the little mutts are the sweetest things - and if you want a long hair.. then you will find a cuddly one waiting for you.

    Good luck

Sometimes mixes can be calmer as opposed to pure breeds that can be more high strung. Sometimes in the paper people will have to give a dog away because they are moving or their elderly parent can't take care of it. Make sure you spend time with it before saying yes. A more mature dog is a good choice too. I'm such a dog fan, I can't imagine being without one. emoticon
(HA I just realized I even have the dogs bowls in my Spark picture)

I think you might be talking about a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel...smaller than a Cocker and cute. Otherwise, Powder Puff are adorable (and small enough to control) too. I can't add a picture on here...hmmm. I also recommend checking the site that Becky had listed...the AKC website also offers the what type is best for me.
When I was Up North yesterday, I stopped by the neighborhood cheese factory (yes, in some towns in WI it is like that) and on their bulletin board was an advertisement for border collie pups and one (a male) looks just like my Echo. I took a number, but so far have had enough self-control to not call it. DH would kill me. Turns out, this breeder lives down the (country) block from my parents. Self control...self control...self control. LOL

I know there is a website that has a way of finding out which breed is right for you. Try googling "Find the right dog for you" If I figure out the site I will pass it along.

Yes, my family had a cocker spaniel and he was very cute, friendly, and gentle. :)
