Sometimes bad luck is good luck!

Saturday, October 15, 2011

Today when I was in the midst of a cleaning frenzy I was going to take a lunch break and, when I opened my crisper drawer to get some veggies, I noticed there was liquid in the bottom of the fridge -- pinkish colored. Upon further investigation I discovered that a bowl of watermelon had gotten tilted, and the juice had run all over the back of the bottom shelf and down into the bottom under the crispers. I really didn't plan to do THAT job today -- remove everything from the bottom shelf and crisper, clean everything off, clean out the juice and wash off the shelves, put everything back. Oh, yes, and did I mention that after dripping the juice on the floor as I tried to get the messy stuff to the sink, I had to re-mop my kitchen floor, which I had just finished cleaning an hour before?????? So naturally, I was mumbling and grumbling and getting just a wee bit crabby about the whole thing. Then as I removed the last bag of fruit from the crisper drawer to clean it out, I saw something laying on the bottom. It was my pearl pinkie rink that I'd been looking for for 2 weeks (and had sadly given up any hope of ever finding it again!) It must have fallen off my finger as I was digging for an apple or something. And so I'm saying a prayer of thanks to St. Anthony (patron saint of lost items) for messing up my fridge!!!

It's great to find the silver lining in a situation and turn a blue or gray day into a happy day. Congratulations on taking on that added responsibility, and then being blessed for your efforts.

That is way cool! Who would have ever thought to look at the bottom of your frig for a lost ring? Plus now you have a sparkly=clean frig.

I had a friend who always referred people to St. Anthony whenever something was lost and it usually worked. I keep dropping things in my bedroom that roll under my dresser and wonder every time I have to get down there what God has me under there for. Then one day it occurred to me that perhaps he would like to see me on my knees a little more often. :]

I am so glad you found your ring... a blessing in disguise.

We never know why things happen as they do & are always amazed at the things that can result. Very happy for the return of something you had thought had gone forever.

So true! Something good can come out of a bad situation. I used to tell my kids that. Glad you found the ring! During the summer I kept hoping that St. Anthony would help me find a document that one of my kids needed, but we never found it and had to get a new one. Someday, maybe we will run across it. That watermelon spilled for a reason!
