Love Letter/Mirror Mirror
Thursday, October 13, 2011
Okay, I have been given the assignment to write myself/my body a love letter. This may seem a tad odd, but I have read a few of them from others to themselves and I like the idea, even if I feel a bit strange or embarrassed doing it.
You have lost a lot of weight in the past year and a half and kept it off. In so doing, you have made yourself healthier with lower cholesterol scores, better fasting blood sugar scores, easier ability to bike up a hill and not use your emergency asthma inhaler. My proverbial hat is off to you. Thank you for caring about me, your body. When you take care of me, I will take care of you. We can walk further, bike further, and do things with less effort than before and the challenging activities feel good, even when a bit sore.
I know you are not completely happy with your body at this moment, but things, looks wise, will improve. The important thing is that you are healthier and hopefully will be around a long time for your family and helping those around you. And maybe by becoming healthier yourself, you have helped inspire someone around you to realize that it is doable. It is hard work, but it is doable and it does help.
I hope that you continue to take good care of me and that someday we can walk that half marathon that you have been contemplating all summer. And maybe with a new bike and a basket or saddle bag, we can bike all over town for errands and leave that blasted car in the garage more often. Hopefully you can live to the ripe old age of 90 in good shape and then die quickly like your husband's grandmother did.
