Blessed Sunshine! Beautiful Day!

Monday, October 10, 2011

What a blessing to wake up this morning to blue sky and sunshine, no wind to speak of, and with a few puffy white clouds! The Lord brought us through unscathed and we didn't even lose power. Many are saying the rain and wind were as bad as some of the hurricanes or severe tropical storms we've had. There were technical meterological reasons that it didn't get classified as a named tropical storm but they are beyond me.

I started yard cleanup this morning at 7 am, Sunday's fierce winds did a lot of minor but messy damage. We have no water damage but friends suffered roof leaks, flooded yards and streets, etc. I can't count the palm fronds down in my yard and street, I only got about half of them. There are too many to have come from my yard alone, also seemingly thousands of 6" to 2' leafy oak branch tips covering the yard.

The 25 step-stones leading from my back porch to the gate were almost hidden by all of the leafy debris. My trusty rake has taken care of that and that portion of the back yard looks back to normal except for the full trash cans and piles of branches and debris. Much of the front yard has been raked and debris stacked up or loaded into trash cans as well.

That leaves a sizable area in the back and other front side to clear up but only the back area has a lot of debris down still. That will be tomorrow's chore as I took time out to get my water aerobics class in at the local health club. I don't know what I would do without that, it helps me get my exercise with these bad knees and back.

SUNNY here in Arizona too....warming UP for us....still in the 60's at night, which is typical now. Warm for a few more days, then it will stay cool during the day. Glad you are enjoying the sunshine!
