Space Coast 26.2 training WK 11

This week ended up being a fall back week, or lazy week. What ever you want to call it.

Tuesday I met up with Brad and Kristen in Port Orange to do a little speed work. I never do speed work and really wanted to work on my pace this season. After a 1 mile warm up we decided to start out at a pace equal to a 5 on a 1-10 scale. We would keep that pace for a block then bump it up to about a 6 for a block then a 7 for a block and then back down to about a 5.
The first few loops like that I did ok but then was getting pretty tired. I felt so out of shape!
My paces ranged from 11:30 to 8:03 so I was happy with that. Now to work on not walking after my faster paces! I ended up getting 3.12 miles done.

Thursday I was planning on running bridge repeats but my legs were still a little sore so Brad and I decided to run with a local group that is doing a fundraiser for veterans. It's $5 to run or walk per person and it goes to a great cause. We did our 4 mile double bridge loop and ran it with no intervals. I am really wanting to get away from running intervals for distances from a half and under. The marathons I think I will always do intervals to avoid injury because I seem to be so injury prone. I ran the 3.5 miles with the average pace 11:34. Not too bad!

My long run was scheduled Saturday but the weather is just plane nasty! We have pouring rains, 30mph winds, thunder and lightning. Not ideal for running! I decided to wait until Sunday to run hoping the weather would clear up. No such luck. I was able to get a short 2.08 mile run in between down pours. UGH! This is the first long run I have missed since my training began but to be honest I think my legs needed the break. The 2 miles was a bit crummy. My legs were tight and tired.
I got just under 10 miles in for the week. UGH! I feel like it was such a failure! I have been averaging 20-25 miles a week and getting 10 in just feels, lazy.
I did make it to the gym one day this week. Monday Ty and I got some ST in! Finally! I haven't been to the gym in months! GRRRRRR!

This week I will do a couple of short back to back runs to get my legs ready for the Southern Odyssey relay this weekend. I am pretty excited about the opportunity!! I am heading up to Athens, GA on Thursday, the relay starts Friday and we will finish sometime Saturday late afternoon. I have plans to meet up with my niece and nephew on Sunday before heading home. I am so excited to see them! I haven't seen the kids in almost a year due to issues with my sister. I have already gone shopping for them!

My Mary Kay business is going well! I love doing the facials and makeovers! I could see my self doing that full time for sure!

Julie's procedures went well. Now it's just a waiting game to see if the gene therapy will work they way the Dr's want it to and get that problem tumor to pull out without causing damage to her brain stem.

Well, that's all I have for now. I think. lol

It was a step-back week anyway... don't sweat it! At least it wasn't raining constantly in a big mileage long run weekend! YAY for that!! You needed the rest anyway!

So glad the Mary Kay business is going so well. I tried it several years ago, and didn't do as well as you with it. Mainly because I don't have your outgoing personality. I am DEFINITELY not meant for sales. ;)

Glad to hear your SIL is doing OK... keeping my fingers crossed!

Like Mary said, no sweat on the cut back week... you will get a real workout in during the relay - I honestly thought my last relay was harder than the marathon distance... so it WILL be a workout! Enjoy it! Looking forward to reading your race report!

Isn't it great when 10 is lazy :)!!! Leave it to runners:). I'll be interested to see how the speed work influences your running. i had added a few interval workouts and it helped me a bit. Thanks for continuing to update your training blog. I really like reading it.

Sueann, I was just thinking about you as I was enjoying my bubblebath and beer...seriously. I am going to message you regarding some marathon training questions.

Snap out of it, woman! You are on track with your training. Don't nitpick it and just do what your body and brain tell you. No training plan should ever be etched in stone. You are doing great!

Please know that I will offer prayers for Julie. {{{HUGS}}}!
