October Goals: Week 1 update

Sunday, October 09, 2011

I met some of my weekly goals for October this week however, I fell short on some others.

~ This makes blog 2 for the week.

~ I huddled with my sparkteams this week

~ I got 2 out of my 3 workouts in for the week (unless you count house cleaning, then I got all 3)

~ I fell really short on my food tracking, and actually tracking my workouts (this is something I really need to get back into the habit of doing, any suggestions on how to make this easier are welcome).

~ Did not drink nearly enough water this week.

~ And so far, really haven't found much me time (this is going to be quite challenging considering I work full time and am a mom of 3 kids).

Next week I am going to have to kick it up a notch. I am going to hit the treadmill 3 times this week, to work on my training for my 5k. Gotta reach these goals!

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to make meal planning easier?

As soon as you get home from the grocery store, cut up all your veggies and fruits for snacks so they are ready to go when you are hungry and makes meal prep time go faster. A go-to quick protein for our house is Sam's Club Makers Mark Mesquite Grilled Chicken in a freezer bag. Takes 3 minutes to microwave and it's easy to use in a salad, quesadilla, stir fry, quick pasta or just plain, or any other way you use chicken. I love these. Good luck!

Plan meals ahead of time is a good way if you can. If you can wake up earlier than the rest of the household you might be able to schedule some me time then, or you can go for a walk on your lunch hour - exercise and me time combined. The fact that you set goals and are mindful of them is fantastic. Congratulations and good luck.

I love cooking on Sundays - casseroles and crockpots. Goes a long way and all you have to do is warm up for dinner!

I am going to try a WHOLE chicken in the crockpot this week with a rub.

    Worth considering! :)

Family of 5 is a bit tougher - not sure the ages of the kids. So it is definitely dependent on that.
