My 4th Chemo treatment
Thursday, October 06, 2011
I had my 4th chemo treatment yesterday I saw my doctor and as we were talking she said to me Carol you are doing ABNORMALLY WELL during your chemo treatment and your blood counts have been FABULOUS not one time have your blood counts been low since you started your chemo..She even asked me are you getting chemo?? We both laughed and I said yes I watch them put it in my body every time Im here.
It all comes down to one person JESUS, he has healed my body, the fact that Im in my 4th treatment and have not had one side effect from the chemo can only tell you that Jesus has totally healed my body, the chemo doesnt even affect it actually I feel stronger after the treatment. The first thing they give you is Benadryl which makes me sleepy but it also triggers restless leg syndrome which I have. So Im sleepy but I cant sleep because my legs twitch and turn and the only relief I can get from that is to go for a walk..
As I had the IV in my arm I took my IV stand and went for a walk and as I was walking around the hospital floor I decided to do a little workout. I started doing lunges down the hall way and some high knees even a little jog with my IV stand by my side. Of course the nurses looked at me like I was crazy but I just felt that good and it was taking care of my restless legs.
The other patients that were there were giving me stange looks and I just laughed they all had the same question how can this be?? Im sick, throwing up and Im wiped out where are you getting all your energy from and why arent you sick? I simply say MY JESUS!! Know him, know his word and take him at his word and you will be blessed..
We listen to the word, we read the word but how many of us actually do his word, live his word. The Holy Spirit tugged at my heart on this when I first started my weight loss journey he said when are you going to take me at my word and trust me that I know exactly what Im doing with your life and I simply said Today Lord I start today and I have not looked back and he has kept his word..
How faithful is our Jesus it brings me to the scripture
John 21:15-17..This is after Peter denied Jesus.
15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs."
16 He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep."
17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
How many times did Peter deny Jesus? 3 times and how many times did Jesus ask Peter how much he loved him? 3 times..They spent 3 yrs together and they are face to face looking at each other eye to eye these men are friends they ate meals together, life together and when Peter denied Jesus they were looking at each other right as he was denying him..I cant imagine how Peter felt the bible says he wept BITTERLY..I know I would have too and yet how many times do we deny him??? In 1st Corinthians 13 says one day we will rise from death and see him face to face.
The key to overcoming sin is to get face to face with Jesus. What I love is Jesus doesn’t look at Peter and call him a coward though it is accurate. He doesn’t look at Peter and say you have deep seated fears of man issues, though that’s true. He doesn’t say you are a liar and that’s true too. Instead Jesus gets to the root and he looks at Peter, and Peter can tell as he looks at Jesus, that Jesus loves him and so Jesus asks him 3 times do you love me??
Why does Jesus ask Peter this question?? Because sin is not just the breaking of Gods laws it’s the breaking of Jesus heart. When you and I sin we are sinning against our friend, we are sinning against a God who loves us, we are sinning against a God who wants to do life with us, we are sinning against a God who calls YOU BY NAME and treasures you as a friend. So when Jesus asks Peter do you love me he is in essence teaching Peter if you love me you are not going to lie, if you love me you are not going to deny me, if you love me you are not going to be a coward, if you love me you are going to live for the Glory of God, not for the approval of others.
All your problems and mine really come down to 2 things.
We don’t really believe that Jesus loves us
We don’t really love him
And even if we do sometimes in a moment we choose otherwise and that’s why we sin..So the key to overcoming sin is a friendship with Jesus. Hes not just an idea he is a person who loves you with all his heart.
Jesus is calling you as he did Peter to feed his lambs, tend his sheep, feed his sheep just as he told Peter tell your story so people will be strengthened he is telling you the same Jesus is asking you:: DO YOU LOVE ME??
I continually pray for my dear brothers and sisters here and Lord I thank you that you take a failure like Peter and a failure like me and you allow us to be used by a faithful God to shepherd a flock of sheep. Lord, I am Peter we are all like Peter, we are faithless and we are failures and Jesus you are faithful. And your faithfulness to us it not only forgives us, it changes us. Lord Jesus I thank you for the story the testimony of the life of Peter and I thank you that you are faithful help us to see your face as Peter did. We have sinned and then we have victory over sin and then we sin again. Lord Jesus help us to remember even when we are faithless you are faithful. Jesus thank you that you are the HERO of the life of Peter, thank you that you are the HERO of the story of my life. Thank you that Peter did change and did grow and in the end he loved you well as you loved him well and Holy Spirit we invite you to give us the grace to finish well in the love of Jesus, finishing well loving Jesus in Jesus name I pray Amen
