Do You Read BLOGS?

Thursday, October 06, 2011

If you opened my blog I know you do!
What made you open it? The tItle? or do you always read blogs?
I am doing a blog about blogs as some people tell me they dont read them.
Saying anything that is to be said should go in team mail. I do see their point of view.
But I am in several teams with different age groups and points of view.
Team mail is just for team members .Blogs are to eveyone to read or ignore as they wish. I have had comments and advice too from Sparkers who are not in any of the teams I am in I have made good friends too via blogging.
I think there is room for both team mail and blogs? Which do you prefer?

I really like the blogs. When I find someone who's done some really interesting things, or has a really interesting approach, I like to read back in time, and see how that person changed, grew, developed, or regrouped and tried something different.

I am constantly trying new variations on the old ways of eating, acting, doing, completing... so I like to know what other people are doing.

And, I might start blogging myself one of these days, seriously !!!

blogging does it for me! I read the blogs from friends as I see them in the friend feed but sometimes they get missed if I'm busy and only do the minimum logging in.
I'm sure some people "subscribe" to certain blogs from people they admire in one way or another just to keep in touch.
I agree with Frogladypk, keep blogging!

I have to agree. I think there is room for both.

Good place for both. Blogs can be mini travel logs. I like photo blogs of places other than my back yard. Interesting to see other parts of the country or even world through others' blogs.

Just checking the chat and see you said you wrote a Blog about Blogs. It is just great. I do read blogs. I have several that I enjoy. Sparkers who write just for the points I find very annoying and they get deleted very quickly.

Blogging about blogging...interesting. I read mail that is sent to me and I manage to read a few blogs a day. I'm really busy trying to do all the Forums and threads on those forums in order to keep the teams I lead active (6 teams to be exact). I try to do my own personal blogging each day as well. Usually motivation, inspirational or informational. Stop by and read them when time allows. Have a great day my friend.

I definitely read blogs and especially if the title catches my eye as this one did! emoticon Also, I blog not as often as I should and not just to get the points as one of the others said. I generally do it to encourage others and sometimes to get the encouragement I need if I'm having a down day. I have made lots of new friends from the blogs who aren't on any of my teams. Sooo, keep on blogging, new friend! emoticon emoticon

I think there is a place for both. I read blogs when I can and work with team topics as I can as well. Time is a short commodity and I spend too much time on the computer with my team and reading articles as well as blogs that catch my eye and topics that are thought provoking. That is a lot of reading and one "should" fit a little fitness & nutrition in somewhere. Then there is a life off the computer as well.

Thank you for a topic that created a good discussion and actually caught my eye.

I read and write blogs. I think its a wonderful expression of the mind. The internet and specifically SparkPeople has given us a way to express, share and connect. All avenues can be positive, up-lifting, or generally negative depending on your point of view or the readers.

I wish for you a peaceful and lovely day! emoticon

I read and write blogs. There is a wealth of information in them that you won't find in team mail. Spark is about sharing and support in a community and to me that means "everyone" I also enjoy team topics where I get to know my teams members. If I am short on time I will choose a blog by title. I don't read really long blogs.

As I said on the team, I do read blogs occasionally. Some are because they are from my team members and some have very interesting titles.
Since I am a read-a-holic, I would probably go looking for more but I try to limit my time on the computer because I love it so much that it interferes with exercise, walking, housework, family time, shopping and day to day ourdoor chores, at times.

Since I am co-leader of 50's 60's 70's and Older team, I spend more time trying to welcome new members, checking on team goals, doing a recap for those that cannot spend time reading all responses to the daily chat, checking my daily fitness, nutrician, and other spark pages, reading posts from the Official leadership boards etc.

To me, blogging is a way to communicate food for thought, and I have read some very interesting ones from new members struggling to find a balance to fitness and nutrician control and health, in order to meet their goals. I love to read the ones from those who have met their goals, and encourage diligence and regularity in others efforts to meet their goals. Each one is equally important because most people who blog are pondering on thoughts that mean something to them, and they are hoping that it makes an impact on someone elses lives. KEEP BLOGGING!

I read blogs from people that I know or ones that the title intrigues me. Mostly I don't read them - I spend most of my time on the team topic pages. I think there is room for both - some people only read the blogs and never get to the team topics.

I read blogs sometimes. I read yours 'cos you said on the team thread that you'd written one! Some are very interesting/funny/informative. I just don't always have the time to read them.

    Keep on blogging!

I read several blogs every day... I like knowing what is happening with my friends. To me, team mail is completely different from blogs. I guess everyone has their own point of view.

Yes, I read blogs, when I have the time. I have Spark friends who I'm not on any team with, so my only contact is reading their blogs. It's a good way to really get to know someone. I get about 5 blogs a day. There are some members who just blog to get the points. Sometimes all their blog says is," I have nothing to say today." OR they just copy and paste a quote to get the points. They usually get deleted from my blog list PDQ.

I go through periods where I specifically spend time reading blogs. At other times I don't bother. I like to read the blogs of my SPARK friends to help get to know each better. I like blogs that are only a few paragraphs long and pictures are always fun. I only write blogs when I have a specific inspiration or revelation and decide to share.

    Hi Ree,
I read and write blogs. I may be attracted by the title, hence yours, or if I know the person. I have a blog on WordPress so I haven't been blogging here too much lately. I love to hear what others are thinking or doing or just to see their pictures, it they post them. I am a writer (books) so I guess that is the best way I have to express myself. And I just about always leave a comment if I read a blog.

    Irene -

For the most part, I Do Not read blogs. Every once in awhile, as with this one the title will provoke me to read it or respond to one.

Why don't I read blogs? I lead an active team, and I promote on this team sharing, caring and getting to know one another. In other words a closeness among the team members and us working as a unit to help one another. I think things like blogs take away from this. If I want to just journal, I can do this in many different ways. I've been on teams where people post, but no one seems to know or care about anyone else on the team except themselves. For those people they could blog and get the same result. Many on the team you and I belong to, do as you do - you are active within the team and very much a part of it, but you enjoy blogging too. If you've got the time for all of that, then that works. But we have many who have joined this team that do nothing but blog. They have never made themselves a part of this team. I guess if I wanted to interact with the entire Spark People membership that blogging would be good, since as you can see I usually have lots to say on a subject, but my primary interest in Spark People is my team and how I can help them on this weight loss journey.

I'm a blogger, love blogs, writing them and reading them!!

Also... I read based on title or if its a SparkFriend already that posted!

I do both.. I like short ones to earn my points. Sometimes I've become friends with my fellow sparkers through their blogs.

I also then go and look at their spark page to see if I have anything in common with them. By your name it looks like you sew.... I do also at times! Have a great day! t emoticon
