The scariest part of October.....
Tuesday, October 04, 2011
The scariest part of October is that I'm running.
Before I get into the saga of my running I'm going to review September and tell you about my October goal. September was record breaking, but not in the way I was hoping. I managed to fail at EVERY streak. I didn't drink all my water, I didn't eat enough fruits/veggies. I didn't even log in every day. So I broke a record for being the laziest sparker in the month of September.
But the beauty of having a different challenge every month is that I can start fresh this month and try again. So for the month of October I am going to train for the C25k running program. In case you do not know that entails me training 3 days a week. So for the month of October I will be running 12 times in the month of October. Hopefully by the end I won't feel like I'm dying when I'm done.
Now for the scary story, For some WEIRD reason I got a wild hair and decided to job a little, so i jogged for about 30 seconds walked for 2 minutes. I didn't stretch before going right into Zumba and the next morning I woke up sore ALL over, everything from my hamstrings up was sore. Tuesday I was sore again. Wednesday I woke up to a new pain. A sharp stabbing pain in my back. It hurt to breathe it hurt to move in any direction, this continued all the way through Saturday. I was so uncomfortable I was loaded up on advil and ice. I looked ridiculous, I either had a bag of ice strapped to my back that made me look like Quasimodo or I had a ThermaCare band that gave the impression of boils. Needless to say during this time I was not running, I tried swimming but it didn't seem to help. I was thrilled when I woke up on Sunday and realized with joy that I no longer ached.
So today I decided I would try an official Couch to 5K program, I am happy to announce that I was able to run again. I stretched at the end and have decided I will walk tomorrow (as recommended to me by other runners) to stretch my body. Now most of you don't know me but seeing me run is actually more than a little scary. So in the spirit of Halloween I'm going to scare my neighbors as I begin my adventure into running.
Stay tuned for the next chapter.
