It is now October and although I have acheived one goal I am not doing very well with the other, which is typically losing bodyfat.
So, armed with a new gym and new instructor (ex-bodybuilder and strongman) I am ready to take the world on!!!!
We had a 2.5 hour session the other night just talking about nutrition and working out and muscle and how they all interact and effect one another. So rather than trying to do too much at once we have gone back to basics, something I feel is much needed.
I am on week two of a 6 week basic plan to get my body back into fat burning and muscle toning mode. Last week was dominated by finding out the weights I can lift for the 4 sets of 20s that I am doing. I work out each muscle group once a week and do four exercises per bodypart. It is a great workout and I have really been feeling the burn and pump which I love.
Needless to say I am loving this workout and am very pleased with how my muscles are feeling fuller.
Food, however, is a different matter altogether. After the wedding I kind of went on an eat anything I want rave which was not catastrophic but wasnt helping and I started feeling really bloated and rubbish. After thinking long and hard and speaking with my now husband, I decided to give the keto diet a go. Which I have to say the bloating went away very quickly and it was a very easy diet to get on with.
When I spoke to Steve about this he just shook his head and in his own lovely way, told me I was an idiot and he was suprised that I was not feeling like crap! He threw my plan in the bin and that was when we sat down to discuss the way I should be eating.
So, I am now back on the carbs and my body is really struggling to get used to digesting them again. I am fine in the morning but I get to midday when my porridge and eggs have started to be digested and I feel like rubbish. It is like trapped wind which makes my stomache feel really bloated and tender and as I am at work it is really off putting. Plus I find myself needing to go to the toilet a lot lot more than I was! Steve has promised that this is only temporary and that it is just my body adjusting to eating properly and that in three weeks I should be back to normal and have more energy and feel better in my workouts.
I am sticking with it despite the discomfort and soldiering through it so fingers crossed it all works out and that my workouts benefit from this new plan.
Anyway, just thought I would check in as have not been on the ball with things recently as trying to retrain the mind as well as the body. But I will be more strict with myself going forward and will try to post at least once a week and am also going to start monitoring my weight again, really scared to get on the scales though!
Gotta go now as at work but post later
