Oh yeah, I did it, oh yeah....

In the mist, fog, sprinkling and downpour, I get to say 'I did IT', I didn't give up!
13.1, I owned you yesterday!!
So I finished another 13.1 yesterday. I was very wary of this race because I injured my knee and back over the summer, not even related to running!! So this set me back in my training for sure. I decided even if I had to just walk the darn thing I could still do it. Well, race day, yesterday... it was pouring rain and about 55 degrees. Yeah. I know people that didn't even go and my husband said there were vans of people that quit and came back. I had to drive 2+ hours even to get there, with husband and 7 and 12 year old in tow. They are my greatest support team!!
So, about halfway thru the race my ipod touch starts going wonky... it's wet. So now no music. Sigh!! So I decided it was time to step up and dig deep. Looking at my watch I saw that I actually had time to PR!! I was that far ahead of what I had planned. So with my new goal in mind, I set off on a different mindset. I stopped in the porta potty and dried off my iPod and got it going again, for a little while anyway. My Nike+ program kicked in and would give me about 15 seconds of music then kick off again. So I ran to 'starting workout'--10 seconds of music--, pausing workout'. I never want to hear that woman's voice again!! LOL
I finished 6 minutes short of my PR, but in my defense, I had to wait at least 3 of them stuck at a light while they let traffic go through. And I took probably 5 to use the loo and dry off my iPod. At least I didn't miss first place in her age as my friend did when she stopped to mess with her shoelaces, by 3 seconds!!
Oh, and, I can say I ran with Joan Benoit Samuelson!! I saw her on the turnaround! She didn't win either! :)

I don't workout in the rain unless I'm in the gym..haha...hey I could melt! Celebrate, you deserve it and be proud of yourself! Have a great week...Jane emoticon emoticon emoticon
