On my new life style path

I am on my third week of daily walking. The first few days I only walked about 30-35 minutes a day; but I have worked my way up to 45-50 minutes a day. Most of those days I am pushing my daughter in her stroller and my route has some pretty good hills. I am most certainly feeling the burn. This is a routine that I will continue for the rest of my life, I have even gone so far as to purchase the "Walk Away the Pounds" workout DVDs so that I can continue even during the winter when I am stuck in my house(we currently live in Germany). When my daughter is old enough to stay with me she will be out of the stroller and walking with me.
I have also (after my well woman check up) decided that I will do all that I can to lower my blood pressure. She said it wasn't really high, but higher than it should be at my age (23) and high blood pressure runs in the family. So I have in the last week or two started really tracking my sodium intake here on sparkpeople. It has been pretty crazy seeing how much sodium is in even my "healthy" foods. I am doing all I can to get my calories properly budgeted so I am getting all I need. I can't wait until my low sodium cookbooks arrive!
I have started to incorporate more fruit and veggies into my eating plan, so far I am up to 2 fruits and 2 veggies a day as compared to none at all or maybe just 1 fruit or a veggie (either or never both) I am taking that one slow so my body can adjust to the good stuff and not overreact and give me intestinal problems. On that same path I am also including more fiber in my diet to help counteract any problems that may arise due to the increased fruit and veggies.
So far I am feeling great, I have much more energy and don't feel as tired during the day. Right now I am walking 50 minutes a day 7 days a week. I hope to be able to bump this up to 1 hour soon. Probably around the 1 month or month and a half mark. I also am doing at least one Turbo Jam workout 3-5 days a week which I just started 4 days ago, so I am getting my Cardio and my strength training. Well wish me luck on my new way of life, so far I am not even missing the extra sodium. I haven't had chips in over 3 weeks and I was a major chip-o-holic! Same with ice cream, though I haven't had it in 2 weeks now. My husband hasn't noticed the drastic change in sodium levels so that is good. This time will be different with God and friends on my side!
