I Am Gonna Own October!

I want to start by recognizing that I feel good! Like really! I'm excited, and motivated, and focused. I'm pumped to be trying new things - yoga, running, etc. And I'm really enjoying working on me as a whole - mind and body. I really love focusing on the fitness minutes per month, as opposed to "I have to work out today because the scale's gotta move this week"... Minutes per month is so much more tangible and seriously fun! I started running in September, and signed up for my first 5k so I really have to continue training into and through October. And I need to re-consider the time of my outdoor run... I am finding that when I run outside in the evening, I am having trouble sleeping that night. However, when I work out at the gym - I come home wiped, like I've left all the stress of the day there and I'm ready for bed. I'm thinking perhaps the fresh air that I'm heaving while running is what makes the difference. Or perhaps I just need to run longer or harder and wear myself out? I don't know. Going to try a few different things to try and address this issue - I am a bear without my sleep, seriously just cannot function so it's simply not an option for me to not get my rest.

Okay so let's get down to it - my goals for October:

emoticon SPARK daily! Log on, track meals, blog, check in with others, read inspirational/motivational stories etc.

emoticon Track calories at least 6 days/week, staying within limits (1,610 - 1,960)

emoticon Weekly weigh-in, Tuesday mornings (to correlate with BL emoticon)

emoticon I'm Canadian, so my Thanksgiving is this month emoticon ~ enjoy Thanksgiving without the bulging waistline that usually follows - maintain calories at dinner, and no weight gain as a result. Have a plan - stick to it!

emoticon Fruits/veggies, 5/day

emoticon Exercise, 1200mins/month

emoticon Complete 1st 5k 10/23

emoticon Make a real attempt for AM workouts

emoticon Strength training is a MUST ~ my fitness settings schedule 6 days per week, 2/wk each upper, lower, core

emoticon October goal loss: 8lbs (which would mean I move back to Onederland this month!)

emoticon Make one-on-one time with each of my boys at least once per week - I have three boys and although we all spend a lot of time together as a family (doing homework, reading, listening to music, eating, cleaning, activities, exercising)... I don't get to spend much time with each them one-on-one. I feel this is important and requires a little extra effort on my part, and in working to become a better person/mom/wife this is my family goal for the month.

    Great goals. I will also try to focus on my monthly fitness minutes vs trying to get the scale moving. Just thinking about it that way is very liberating,thanks.God bless.

    I love love LOVE your goals! I have to give it to ya... you're an awesome goal-setter! Like, for real, lol.

    Zoiks, I'm not sure what to suggest for your exercise time/sleep. I think you are definitely on to something with trying to get it in during the AM hours. But understandably, that's not always so easy when you have to be at work on time. Just keep trying new things until you find what works for you!
