Follow up with Surgeon

A long week. The wound vacuum didn't show up on my door until Wednesday morning. Since I had a checkup with the Surgeon, I went to the appointment and then Home health came out later to put it on.
The appointment was chatty-my wound separations are bigger, but look okay and with the wound vaccuum it should help. He continued the antibiotic and the pain meds. We discussed some other things and he did say physical therapy was in the future but not right now when the muscles still need to heal.
The wound vaccuum puts a low pressure on the site to help it heal. It also sucks out any oozing stuff (I just have a little). It is noisy and the tubing is not comfortable when the incision is on your back and you sleep on your back. It is also noisy. The cats avoided me. The first night hurt-I needed to up my pain meds some in order to sleep. It adds an "achy" feeling that I really haven't had unless I was up cooking or standing too long. The bandage gets changed every other day. And if I get a "leak" then I have to push down things to restick them so the vacuum is still there. I got little sleep Wednesday night, but better on Thursday night.
Only thing planned for the weekend is a lunch out with some high school friends. I am starting to go a little stir crazy and a burger sounds really good. I've been staying on my plan pretty well since I haven't had much of an appetite after surgery and they want me to up the amount of protein I eat right now.
Hope you all have a good weekend! Diana
