My Dearest Brother Joe

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Dear Brother Joe, today would have been your 58th birthday. You have been gone two years now and I still grieve for you. You and I were the closest in age, so we were the ones who were always in mischief together.

I wish with all my heart I could have helped you quit smoking. When you had quadruple by pass surgery on your birthday at the age of 45, we all begged you to quit smoking because the doctors told us and you that the surgery was needed because of smoking. then 3 years later when you had carotid artery surgery, the doctors told you again, Joe please quit smoking, it's killing you. then two years ago, the bleeding ulcers, caused by smoking, took you away for good. I hate nicotine and I know there is a demon in hell by that name.

I love you Joe. I'll never forget you. I'll forever have you in my heart and soul. You devoted Sister, Mary.

I'm so sorry about your brother Joe.

Thank You for responding to my blog. I had also had to log in to leave this message. By the other messages it must be something with SP. What a pain.

I feel for you Mary. Time passes but we still miss them. I've lost 2 brothers thus far, and almost lost a third brother. I am so glad he is still here with me. My prayers go out to you.

Mary, sending you love and hugs.
It is never easy to lose a family member and while the pain lessens, the missing is always there. Joe was so young to leave this world and it is hard to watch a loved one self destruct when you can see it happening, but they cannot take the steps to make the changes that would help.

    Much love to you,

I'm so sorry you lost your brother. But, glad for you that you had the close relationship you plainly had with him and hold him in your heart forever.

    Dear Sweet Mary,
Seems like you and I are joined in many ways! I understand exactly what you're going through. It was two years June 23rd when my brother passed and he and your brother were the same age, dying from the same "demon." We were both so very blessed to have them in our lives, even for that short time.

Remember when I told you that my brother "led me" to Zoey last year on his birthday? Well, Sept. 21st is Zoey's birthday! She's 4 years old today!

Much love to you, my friend!!!

    AMEN and AMEN............

Mary I am sorry you lost your brother Joe....I lost Melvin and
Ronnie, both to complications of smoking.

I nearly lost David to the same thing. When he had his
quadruple bypass I told him it was me or the cigarettes.

He got caught smoking at work one day and that is when I
told him either they go or I do, because I am not watching
you do this to yourself and me.

They say getting off cigarettes is harder than heroin.....I
    believe that.

    Blessings my friend,
