I've noticed that some people think that drinking a gallon of water seems impossible. And that I'm a little freakish for accomplishing this feat. While it might be daunting, it is certainly DOABLE.
I really didn't even know to do any different since I was told to drink that much when trying to lose weight. So, I didn't have to reset my thinking about water. I knew that 8 cups a day was the norm, whether trying to lose weight or not, so, it made sense to me to drink 16 cups a day, ( a gallon) when trying to lose weight.
I start with a 32oz. tumbler cup that I already had in my cupboard. No need for special cups! I began by using my measuring cup to ensure that my measurements were precise. I saw that I could get four cups into my tumbler.
Next, I eat 5 times a day, sometimes 6. Before each meal, I drink 1 full 32oz. tumbler of water. 32oz. equals 4 cups (8oz. x 4=32oz.). I usually do 10 swallows in a row, pause and finish the cup.
It doesn't have to be this scientific or thought out, but this is what works for me.
I don't know if this is the proper way to drink the water, but this is how I do it!
It's only helped my weight loss and I'm definitely hydrated. My urine is pretty much clear except for first thing in the morning. (Too much information? I hope I don't offend anyone!)
Making this a habit has been tough on some days because I may forget to eat or drink while I'm teaching the kids, or washing clothes, or whatever. But, when I remember, I simply double up on the next meal. At that point, I can hear the water sloshing around in my belly. It's quite funny and sometimes uncomfortable. I try to avoid this, but life happens.
No matter what, the water is in there. Ha!
So, that's all there is to it. Get a big 32 ounce cup, fill it, drink it before each meal (or during or after) and chug away.
Chug a lug, chug a lug!
