Goofy 20.4/Wine & Dine Half Marathon 4.4

Sunday, September 18, 2011

This weekend I ran the Fox Cities Half Marathon as my final long run/preparation for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. I was slated for a 14 mile training run anyway, so doing the run as part of an organized event with course support, shirts, medals, and swag seemed like a perfect motivator! My plan for the half was to relax, take it easy, and treat it as a training run at a comfortable pace, just one with lots of extra people around! On Saturday I hit the expo and came away with some fun new purchases. I also did a short training run, and once again hit those rare sub-10-minute miles. Unfortunately did that run in the wrong shoes (accidentally) but no harm done. Having a great, fast little training run got me fired up and ready to go for half #9!

I will be doing my first full Marathon on 5 Novemeber in Savannah. The weekend of 15 October is supposed to be my "go the distance" long run.

What to do? Run around Catonsville for 5 to 6 hours by myself? Or ... run in the Baltimore Marathon and get a cool t-shirt and hang out with 10,000 of my closest and dearest friends.

So while Savannah will not TECHNICALLY be my first marathon, I must show great discipline in Baltimore to not race, just run S L O W L Y.
