Fat Sick and Almost Dead (a movie) And, To Juice or Not to Juice?

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Today I watched the documentary by Aussie Joe Cross about his travels while talking to people about their eating habits. He started juicing and his success is impressive. He's also impacted others significantly. If you get a chance to watch this film, it's worth the time.

I've always toyed with the prospect of juicing, but will have to research more about it.

Wishing all a fun day.

I have started juicing. I tried it a couple of years ago, but gave up without really giving it a good try. i have found a basic recipe and really enjoy it. i do have some questions, looking for answers.

Juicing can be fun, but it can also be expensive and time consuming. If you want to start, you have to really look at the kind of juicer you want. You need one with a large mouth - for convenience and to minimize prep time. You also should look at one with a strong enough motor to juice wheat grass, even if you never use it to do that. The stronger motor means that it will last longer. My experience is that they also tend to produce more juice. Also look at what's required for clean up of the machine like is it dishwasher safe. I didn't have a dishwasher when I bought my first juicer and it took me longer to clean the thing than it took me to cut up the fruit/veggies and make the juice.

Just a few things I learned the hard / expensive / time consuming way. :-)

That movie did provoke a lot of thought in me. The movie talked about it being short term. I'm still working on doing the healthy menu thing so I won't go back to bad habits after juicing.

I have a juicer but I don't really like the hassle of cleaning it!

I'd like to watch the film~ but I don't like drinking my calories. i used to make fruit smoothies but I do better with cutting the fruit up and slowly eating it.

I'm not one to drink my calories if possible, but I'm sure it works for some.
