Shopping Clean

Saturday, September 17, 2011

I live at Walmart and because my brother in law refused to drive me there yesterday we ended up at Publix. Not sure if you have heard of this store, though they are the ones with the "buy one get one" specials. Of course most do not realize that they up their prices by $2 to $3 dollars to do this. When a package of turkey franks (4) of them cost $6 dollars something is wrong here.

So I had to make do and I went hog wild in the outside lane :) I got a ton of organic deli meats, and veggies and paid way too much. I also got a sub for dinner with some baked wheat crackers, and Jalepino hummus. and some home brewed tea. All in all pretty great.

Oddly enough for 4 bags of groceries I spent almost $90 bucks it was scary.

Nice to see what other stores are offering and how their prices look. I like to see other brands and ideas from there, but I usually shop at WalMart, too... everything else is so expensive :( Geez.

But YAY for hummus! Love it! :)

That is funny...I shop at Publix regularly and I had a sub yesterday too. Lol. A 6 inch weggie sub on whole wheat has 270 cal, 3.5 g fat, 58 carbs ( too much there but man it was good!) and 10 g protein. I enjoyed it. A lot. A whole lot. I also am diabetic (type 2) and my last visit Aug 16 my Dr. said the "I" word. I swore then no insulin for me. Been on Sparks for several years but just now got serious. I have lost 15 lbs since 8/16 and brought my glucose down to normal range eating the way a diabetic should eat. Oh btw I saw you gave up soda. Have you tried Crystal Light? Stuff is amazing. Good luck. We can do this!!!
