The Time Has Come

Tonight I threw away a pair of beyond worn out, completely tattered, totally used up, absolutely spent Reeboks. Despite the fact that they were in shreds with absolutely no remaining value, I felt a bit nostalgic. At one time they were white leather with white shoe strings. At one time they had tread on the soles. At one time I was reluctant to put them on and take them out for more than a few minutes. But they were always soft and comfy, encouraging me to do more. Recently I only wore them on days I really didn't feel like moving. They would remind me of how far I've come and why I want to keep going.
Despite the fact that I now have shoes fitted by professionals using computer analysis of my treadmill running, it was more than a little hard to just throw those decrepit Reeboks in the trash. But it was time.
