Since this is 10 years after what happen on 9-11-01 it is on the news and more pictures to look at over again. I’m sure most of us remember where we were that day. For myself I was married then and my husband and I had an office on a third floor of a building downtown in a small town. It was early morning and we decided to walk down the block to McDonalds to get a cup of coffee. I remember a man just walked up to us and said have you heard they ran a plane into the towers in New York? We just could not really understand what he was talking about but we hurried back to our office and turned on a TV that we had there where it showed everything over and over again. We cancel all of our meetings that day and most of the time sat watching it on TV and it just did not seem real. Most of those people did not have a chance to say good bye to their loved ones.

I feel for all of those people that lost someone that day. Most people don’t want to think about death but it can happen at any time. I was widowed with 2 young children at 21 years old. My husband went to work one morning and three hours later there was a detective, a pastor, and his boss at my home telling me he was in the morgue. There was an accident and he had been killed on the job at 24 years old. I had one brother and he owned an auto repair shop and had done some work on my car and he called me on a Tuesday and told me my car was ready to be picked up. I told him I could get it on Friday since I was working a lot and he was an hour away. He asked if he could drive my car until then so that he could loan his car out to one of his customers while he worked on their car and I said of course. His wife called me on Thursday and said that he had been in an accident was not wearing a seat belt and went though the window and died and totaled my car.

Two things that I want to say from each of these stories:

With my husband, he had a disagreement with his parents and we had not seen or talked with them in a few months. Now I had to tell them that their son was dead. We talked about who said what and it really did not matter at that point.

With my brother he went with a few of the guys that worked with him for a bite to eat and a couple of beers after work and he called his wife from where they were and she got mad that he had not went straight home and slammed the phone down and hung up on him and then he died on the way home.

This brings us to 9-11 and all of the people that died that day. My point is that you may not know when you will take your last breath here on earth. For myself I try always to think before I speak and to choose carefully what I say. I’m not afraid to die and my children know how much I love them there are no doubts there. Because I’m a Christian and believe in God I believe that he (GOD) may not like everything I do but he loves me unconditionally because I’m his child. That is how I look at my children, grandchildren, friends (which are the family we choose for ourselves). I love them and may not always like or agree with what they are doing but still love them. It is very hard for me to understand how some families will just disown each other because they see things differently. Now I’m not saying that you should let someone walk all over you and take advantage of you but just speak your peace in a nice way and move on.

Go Hug and tell those you Love that you Love Them Today, don’t assume they know.

Hugs Linda

Wise words from someone who experienced such tragic heartbreak, it is always sad when words can't mend feeling. Sorry for your losses.
