Rainbow Carrots

Friday, September 09, 2011

Apparently I need to get out more.

Did anyone know there are "Rainbow Carrots"?

Red, yellow and classic orange. They were at my local produce store and were selling for only 99c a bag, less than the regular baby carrots. Not sure I'll purchase them again. They were a bit tough for my liking but I'm all about the Fun Food so they scored points there.

Apparently I need to get out more too.
I love carrots and these are pretty as well as good for you. My mom used to cook them until very well done and then fry them in butter. They were my favorites! Now I have to spray lightly with butter spray, but still love carrots. emoticon

We also have these at the factory restaurant, but I've never seen them in a shop!

I love carrots, especially the baby ones you get in spring. Just delicious! I didn't know they came in colors though, although I have seen the red ones before. emoticon

    Hi Tomi,

Yes had them. Did I enjoy them? Still not sure. The second eating I mixed them with other root vegetables, a little olive oil, and a sprinkling of pepper (I do not use salt, but sea salt would be a nice addition) and baked them in the oven. Results......it was great. emoticon

Interesting. It would probably convince me to buy them but if they still taste like carrots - total loss. I just can't convince myself to like them no matter how good for you they are or now how festive they are...

No, I didn't know about Rainbow Carrots. I'll have to look for them next week when I go shopping.

Now I just had to visit your blog with a title like that - I suspect those aren't really carrots but a mix of rutabaga, carrots and some other pinkish root veggie? But they sure look pretty and yummy!
