2 weeks--Need encouragement...HELP

Friday, September 09, 2011

I know it's only been two weeks. But still, I lost 2 pounds the first week. Then I went to the Dr's office 2 days ago, and their scale only showed 1 pound loss. So today is my weekly weigh-in and my scale shows only 1 pound loss. In other words I am moving backwards!! I am so disappointed and feeling kinda discouraged. I had a couple of slightly difficult days this last week as I celebrated my birthday. But I felt I had done really well handling the events. Yet here I am with an upward scale movement rather than the way I was hoping for. Even staying the same (2 pound loss) would have been OK. HELP! This is the time in the past where I chuck it all and quit....

Don't give up! 2 weeks is a tough point; the excitement if doing something new wears off and often, after the first 10 days easy loss, things get tough. You're learning a lot and remember that you didn't gain this weight overnight and won't lose it overnight. You are changing your lifestyle, not losing weight, so the loss will happen and will be permanent. Don't get discouraged. Instead keep a list of all the small successes: triggers you avoided, exercise you did, water you drank, sugar and empty calories you avoided, things like that! Stick with us! Keep Sparking and the weight will be list- permanently!

My first two weeks I was all over the scale. But things settled down and I saw progress. But you have to remember that success in other areas counts, too. Like drinking all your water, or exercising 10 minutes a day...if these are new things you are incorporating in your life, rejoice that you are doing great things for your body! emoticon

Don't beat yourself up. There are so many reasons why the scale goes up and down. You can't let the scale dictate your life. Take it one day at a time. Focus more on healthy eating choices and 10 minutes of exercise a day. You'll begin to notice a change. You'll start feeling better and your clothes will fit better.

Don't give up! Not all scales weigh the same, so I pick one & stick to it. They all lie anyway! lol Seriously, keep at it and before long you will see improvement. I know I don't have much patience, but if I give up, I'm usually worse off than when I started. If you fall off your plan, dust yourself off & start over. Remember you can start your day over at any time, so if you mess up, tell yourself it's okay & then get back on track.
Hope that helps a little! Janet emoticon

Please don't chuck it and quit! We have all had those set backs at one time and some of us quite often. Hang in there and I guarantee you will be back on the down side of the scales. Just take one day at a time and celebrate the little victories. I never look at the big picture until I get there. You CAN do this! HUGS!

emoticon This is all about lifestyle change! Not about the scale and what it says! Don't let this get the best of you! Just keep on plugging away, and you will see the results of your efforts, if not in weight loss, then in feeling better, losing inches, and tightening up! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Anytime you are losing you can't be going backwards. Even if you gain a bit there are so many reasons that it is still moving forward - muscle weight gain as you grow stronger, water weight, and so on. Also, your weight will vary by time of day. My weight can vary by 2 or 3 pounds from morning to evening, so I always try to do my weigh in at the same time of day. Like someone else mentioned, different scales are set differently as well. When I was going to the gym I always weight nearly 5 lbs more than I did on my home scale even in exactly the same clothing 5 minutes after I weighed in at the gym.

Take heart. You are not alone with this frustration. All of us have been there some time or other. I wish you only success on this journey.

I know know know that this sounds stupid but you have to factor in water weight. On a daily bases our weights can fluctuate 3 pounds because of water weight. You might have just been eating something salty or a new medication or whatever, but it could be water weight. Don't get too discouraged because of the numbers on the scale. Plus each scale is different and different clothing or time of the weigh in can all be a factor. Why do you think they do the weigh ins on biggest loser in the same amount of clothes?

Keep at it and you'll see results. It just takes time.

Consistency and Patience is the key to success. We all have ups and downs on weightloss, but if you're doing everything right the weight will come off! You just have to be patient and change your lifestyle! Its hard, but so worth it! And it gets easier the longer you stick with it! I promise! :)

Ok, first of all, this CANNOT be about weight. It HAS to be about health. Trust me, I know about frustration. I have been on this site for 18 months. Know how much I have lost?? Maybe 8 lbs. Seriously. I could be discouraged. I could just quit, but, you know what I have gained? HEALTH. I have never felt better. I have more energy, my clothes fit better, my skin looks great, my confidence is through the roof. I love getting up, I love when I see my biceps, I can feel my quads, my abs has some definition. These things cannot be seen on a scale. SO......readjust your goals. Take baby steps. Believe in yourself. You can do this!! HUGS!!
