Life...Priorities and other ramblings

Thursday, September 08, 2011

"May you live all the days of your life" - This well know quote from Jonathan Swift is one of my favorites.

I had a recent medical scare that has made me take a step back and evaluate what is important to me. I learned some new things about me and other people close to me. One of the things I learned about me is I have a serious problem with emotional eating. I know it's not rational and not good for me, but I felt like I could not stop myself. I think I saved some SparkPeople articles about emotional overeating and I need to go back and take a look through them for coping strategies that work for me.

I also learned that I really want to enjoy life. No grand plans for skydiving or seeing some spectacular natural beauty but just enjoy the simple things like a weekend picnic or a morning spent fishing or a bicycle ride.

I learned that my husband can be a fantastic listener and is my strongest supporter.

I learned that its OK to ask for help.

I still have 1 more biopsy that I have to schedule but am hopeful that it will turn out ok. For all my Sparkbuddies who have sent well wishes and have prayed... emoticon.

Doc says no vigorous exercise and no weights for 1-2 more weeks but I can ride my bike and walk emoticon emoticon. Happy Sparking!!!

Life does go on no matter what it may hand us good or bad. We just have to know how to handle it. My prays are with you as I am in the mist of chemo for my Leukemia. Every time it rears its head I take it with a grain of salt and have God by my side. This makes the 6th treatment I have had in 20 years so I have won the battle so far.Love life, never stop to do what you want. Never claim an illness it is just passing by. Stay healthy, happy and love the outside too exercise. God bless you always. Learn something new every day.
